The Holy See (Vatican) through its Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and Dicastery for Oriental Churches, with the participation of the Catholicosate of All Armenians, Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia and Armenian Catholic Patriarchate of Cilicia are planning to honor the 850th anniversary of St. Nerses Shnorhali’s passing. On Tuesday, 21 March, 2023 a meeting of the Organizing Committee, composed of Archbishop Khajag Barsamian (representing the Catholicosate of All Armenians), Archbishop Nareg Alemezian (representing the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia) and Bishop Vartan Boghosian (representing the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate of Cilicia) took place in Rome.

Following events which will take place in Rome sometimes during this coming Fall:

a) Ecumenical prayer service at the Basilica of St. Peter.

b) An international conference at the Pontifical Oriental Institute dedicated to the monumental legacy of St. Nerses Shnorhali.

c) A concert of St. Nerses Shnorhali’s hymns and liturgical music at the Sistine Chapel.
