This year, the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops will take place in the Vatican on October 4-29.

This year, for the first time, not only bishops will participate in the assembly, but also priests, lay people, who will be directly appointed by Pope Francis.

His Eminence Khajag Archbishop Barsamian will participate in the Synod of Bishops on behalf of The Catholicos of All Armenians.

The 16th Ordinary General Assembly will conclude the continental phase of the synod which began its work back in 2021 and will continue until 2024.

The Synod of Bishops was established by Pope Francis in 2018 with the approval of the Episcopalis Communio apostolic constitution.
